The arrow struck the shield with a impactful “thud!”. Steve peeked around the shield’s edge and saw the arrow was wrapped in a note! Steve excitedly pulled it loose to see what it said… “You’re happy you had that shield, aren’t you?” And yes, Steve was pretty happy. Minecraft has been updated to 1.9! It contains a lot of changes. Most remarkably, the combat mechanics have been updated to make fighting more interesting and offer more map-making options. Here’s a almost complete list of the new and changed features:

Since we want you to build great things, we also want you to look great while doing so. These Redstone Specialists skins are inspired by the builds we’ve seen you create and I think they look great. We hope you’ll like them as well. The Artisan and Composer are free and if you’d like to buy the whole 15 skins it costs $1.99 (or equivalent). With all these awesome things, we’re also inviting you to our livestream we’re having later today at 10 a.m PST (I think that is 19.00 here in Sweden). You’ll be able to catch the livestream on our YouTube andTwitch channels. Make sure you’re nice to the guys. Pocket Edition now has skins, chicken jockeys, more!

This update has now gone live! Have fun, Pocket Edition players!
Hello! We’re bringing loads of new features to Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Skins! Fishing! Cool boats that support the transportation of wolves. Skins? Sounds gross Skins are the way you change the appearance of your Minecraft character. Instead of looking like Alex or Steve, you can roll with a different vibe, like a butcher, dog, or plumber. Skins are purely cosmetic – they don’t affect the way the game plays or give you any special abilities. But… but… I don’t want to give you money! That’s fine. There are a few ways to change your skin for free.
Now we’re talking! Bundles of paid skins will also be available. Each pack will contain around 20 skins, and will cost $0.99/€0.79/£0.79. Our first two: City Folk and Town Folk have been designed by the talented, kind, and pixellated Army of Trolls. We’ll also give away a few free skins when each pack releases, just like on console. I don’t want to change my skin! That’s fine with us. We’re not going to push skins – free or paid – on our players, even though they’re super cool and you should probably get involved. When is this happening? We’re submitting our newest update to Pocket Edition this week. It’ll hit all versions of Pocket Edition once approved by our buddies at Apple, Android, and Windows Phone. I don’t give a monkey’s about skins. Anything else? Yes! The upcoming update brings loads more cool stuff. Here are some highlights from the changelog:
Continue to have fun playing Pocket Edition, please. And have a nice day! Twitter: Owen – @bopogamel |

Minecraft Now Officially Belongs To Microsoft
Microsoft's $2.5 billion acquisition of Mojang and the Minecraft series has closed.
Microsoft's $2.5 billion deal to buy Swedish developer Mojang and the sandbox series Minecraft has now officially closed, Xbox gaming boss Phil Spencer announced on Twitter today.
It’s official, today we welcome Mojang to the Microsoft Studios family. We're excited for the possibilities ahead w/the Minecraft community.
— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) November 6, 2014
After some reports and speculation, Microsoft on September 15 announced plans to buy Mojang and Minecraft in the multibillion dollar deal. Now that the deal has gone through, Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson and two other key Mojang developers will leave the studio. Persson, who owned 70 percent of Mojang, stands to make around $1.75 billion from the acquisition.
Writing on Twitter, Persson reflected on moving away from Mojang.
I left the mojang office for the last time, and didn't properly say bye because everything is strange.
— Markus Persson (@notch) November 5, 2014
I don't even know what a fitting bye is. So I just left like it's a normal day, with normal things happening.
— Markus Persson (@notch) November 5, 2014
At the time the buyout was announced, Persson said about the deal: "It's not about the money. It's about my sanity." It's unclear what the future holds for Persson or if he'll be involved in game development in any way.
Mojang joins other internal Microsoft game studios such as 343 Industries (Halo), Black Tusk Studios (Gears of War), Lionhead Studios (Fable), and Turn 10 Studios (Forza), among others.
Microsoft has said that it will not remove versions of Minecraft for competing players, including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. Regarding the future of Minecraft, Spencer said last month that it'stoo early to talk about a potential Minecraft 2.
At the time, Spencer explained that Microsoft must first "meet the needs" of the existing Minecraft community before the company expands the franchise.
Outside of Minecraft the game, Warner Bros. is currently working on a Minecraft movie. Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy is reportedly a frontrunner to direct the "large-budget" movie, which is in thevery early stages of development and might not be released until 2017 or 2018.
Microsoft maintains that the $2.5 billion Minecraft acquisition will be "break-even in FY15 on a GAAP basis."
